Erwin C Wessels, 27, of 2610 Commercial Ave.

He was a switchman for the North Western Railroad. He was killed when struck by a switching train in the railroad yards. He was born in Champaign, IL, and was a member of the Bethany Methodist church, and the United Transportation Workers Union. Erwin was a Wisconsin State Journal paper boy for three years and a Navy veteran. He left a wife, the former Barbara Severson; a son, James, and two daughters, Christina and Debra Lee, his parents, Mr and Mrs. Dean H Wessels, and three sisters, Mrs Stanley Peckham and Diane, both of River Falls; and Karen. Burial site is Forest Hill Cemetery.
